CPE Task Force Update and Progressive Timeline

February 2011

  • February 2010:  Moratorium placed on enforcing the interpretations to the Standards as published in the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) document as well as the interpretations provided by the CPE Advisory Committee to CPE Program Sponsors published on December 19, 2007 and September 4, 2009.
  • May 24, 2010: Sponsor Forum held to discuss the Statement on Standards for Continuing Professional Education (CPE) Programs (Standards).
  • June 2010: CPE Advisory Committee developed a CPE Task Force to help review, analyze and implement suggestions and changes to the Standards.
  • CPE Task Force members include:

  • July 28, 2010: CPE Task Force holds its first meeting in Nashville, TN.
  • August 11, 2010:  CPE Task Force holds conference call.
  • October 4-5, 2010:  CPE Task Force holds in-person meeting in Nashville, TN.
  • October 27-28, 2010: CPE Task Force holds in-person meeting in San Antonio, TX.
  • November 30, 2010: CPE Task Force holds conference call.
  • December 13-14, 2010:  CPE Task Force holds in-person meeting in Nashville, TN and finalizes its recommendations regarding revisions to the Standards.
  • January 24, 2011:  Joint AICPA/NASBA CPE Standards Committee holds its first meeting as a conference call.  The Joint AICPA/NASBA CPE Standards Committee will review the recommendations of the CPE Task Force.  The Joint AICPA/NASBA CPE Standards Committee will then develop its recommendations regarding potential revisions to the Standards and present its recommendation to each respective Board of Directors for approval.
  • January 25, 2011:  CPE Task Force holds conference call.
  • March 3, 2011:  Next scheduled conference call of the Joint AICPA/NASBA CPE Standards Committee.
  • March 7-9, 2011: Working draft of the recommendations to the revisions of the Standards made available to participants at the 2011 CPE Conference in San Diego for review and feedback.
